Endodontics in Essex
Each tooth has a root that anchors it to your jawbone, and inside each root is a bundle of soft tissue and blood vessels. When a tooth gets damaged, bacteria can get into the inside of the tooth and cause an infection. If the infection isn’t detected and treated, it can cause an abscess and spread infection to other parts of your body. This can lead to the tooth being lost or other health issues.
How does root canal treatment work?
In root canal treatment we remove the diseased tissue from the inside of the tooth. Then we clean the root canal to protect it from further infection, seal the tooth, and restore it with a dental crown.
Aren’t root canals painful?
In most cases, a root canal is about as uncomfortable as getting a tooth filled. We perform the procedure using a local anesthetic so the procedure itself is painless. You may experience local soreness after your treatment.
Symptoms of an infected tooth include increased sensitivity to hot and cold, swelling, or an intense toothache. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, call us to book a dental exam.
